Laura Haruna (春名ヒロ子) is Hamtaro's owner and the main human character in the Hamtaro anime series. Laura cares and tends for Hamtaro very much, just as Hamtaro cares for her.
Character description[]
Laura is a ten-year-old girl who is the owner of Hamtaro. She lives with her mother and father, Forrest and Marian Haruna, and their family dog, Brandy.
In the first episode, the Haruna family moves to a new city. Laura was initially very shy around other kids; but soon after her move, she met a friendly girl named Kana Iwata. Sharing a deep bond for hamsters, Laura and Kana quickly became best friends, and Laura's shy attitude began to fade. She became good friends with most, if not all, of the people (and their hamsters) at her school and around the town. She also developed a huge crush on Travis Kimura; but unfortunately for her, dozens of other girls at the school have crushes on him too.
Laura has a very close attachment to Hamtaro, as does he, and she seems to tend to him as much as possible. She has charming characteristics, but appears to pout whenever she doesn't gets what she demands; as seen in episodes like Laura is Really Gone!, when she storms off and runs away from home after her parents refuse to buy her a CD player. Additionally, while she seems to enjoy school, she is shown to frequently get bad grades and fail many assignments.
